World games in Taiwan. Wait a minute, what games?

Taiwan-China reunion: Hit me, hit me, but I still love you

Now I never heard of that before, but some event called "World games" has started last night in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. As it seems, none of the athletes from the guest countries have arrived yet and so Taiwan has replaced all the sports teams with young Taiwanese women for the opening ceremony. Well, that's fine with me; better to look at hairy legs for sure.

However, one incident shows how foolish Taiwanese/Chinese relations truly are. Taiwan has a very pro-Chinese president at the moment who is even in the middle of reunion talks with China. The strange thing is, as soon as the president of Taiwan (I know, his formal title is "President of the Republic of China" as Taiwan actually is called "Republic of China" by its formal name) announced to take part in the opening ceremony, the athletes from China were withdrawing immediately. Why? Don't they love our pro-Chinese president who want to hand over the country of Taiwan to them?

The answer is, China does not want to acknowledge his authority as "President" as they claim Taiwan cannot have a president as it would be no sovereign country (because China claims Taiwan as their territory).

Now, this must be a great job the president has. Licking China's boots but still getting kicked in the face. Guess he can save the money for the local dominatrix...
